Osaka (Japan) – On March 24, 2009, Sharp Corporation and Sony Corporation “decided, at the Board of Directors Meeting… to establish a subsidiary of Sharp on April 1, 2009” to create a new large-sided LCD panel venture with Sony Corporation.
The new company will be called Sharp Display Products Corporation and will become effective April 1, 2009. [Editor’s note: This is not an April Fool’s joke.] Corporate headquarters will be 1, Takumi-cho, Sakai-ku, Sakai, Osaka, Japan. Hiroshi Saji will be president.
The company will produce and sell LCD panels and LCD modules with each fiscal year ending on March 31. An initial investment of 100 million yen will be provided, along with 2,000 shares issued. Sharp will be a 100% shareholder.
