AMD has introduced its 890GX chipset with integrated ATI Radeon HD 4290 graphics.
According to company spokesperson Adam Kozak, the 890GX and 4290 comprises a “versatile” and energy efficient platform which offers a high definition computing experience.
“The AMD 890GX chipset will redefine the way people play with versatile graphics configurations. For example, it includes DirectX 10.1 graphics on the motherboard and offers support for up to two high-performance ATI Radeon Premium Graphics cards with ATI CrossFireX technology,” Kozak told TG Daily.
“As such, the 890GX motherboard can be used to build an efficient and slim home theater PC with just the integrated ATI Radeon HD 4290 graphics. Or, the chipset can be augmented with ATI’s 5450 for a dual-graphics performance preview, or upgraded to a gaming powerhouse with the 5870 and DirectX 11.”
Kozak also noted that the chipset and integrated 4290 graphics facilitated “accelerated and enhanced” high definition, 1080p Blu-ray playback, including dual-stream PiP (Picture in Picture).
“You can watch 1.1. 1 Standard DVD movies in near high-definition quality with DVD upscaling with post-processing to enhance standard and low resolution videos and movies on HD displays,” said Kozak.
“In addition, the 890GX supports SATA 3.0 6Gbps to help speed performance, decrease boot times and provide faster access to data. Similarly, many AMD 890GX-based motherboards feature SuperSpeed USB 3.0 to quickly synchronize and transfer digital media files on the new generation of USB 3.0 devices.”
Finally, Kozak added that the chipset supports Flash acceleration, IQ enhancement and Web Browsing optimization which offers up to 2x faster rendering with Direct2D.
