Chicago (IL) – Firefox 3.5 beta 4 is on schedule to be released for download later this week. We expect Mozilla to promote to launch much more than it has done so for the previous beta versions (which carried the version numbers 3.1 beta 1 – beta 3): Beta 4 will be available in 70 languages right out of the gate.
Mozilla prepares for appears to become the most complex beta rollout in the organization’s history. Firefox 3.5 beta 4, generally expected to be the final beta of the new browser, is scheduled for a launch later this week; 70 localized versions made it into the beta process, compared to 64 for the current Firefox 3.1 beta 3 (Mozilla recently decided to rename Firefox 3.1 to Firefox 3.5.)
New languages include Spanish (Mexico), Kazakh (Kazakhstan), Bengali (Bangladesh), Assamese (India), Croatian (Croatia) and Tamil (India).
The current release plan indicates that Firefox 3.5 beta 4 will be made available on April 24. However, since Mozilla is holding its test day for the browser on Friday, there is always the possibility of unexpected events that could delay the release into next week.
Later today, Mozilla will update the current stable version of Firefox to version 3.0.9.
